Football Fever

Football Fever is like a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air when everyone either cheers, grunts in frustration or screams with excitement from touchdowns. Football, Food and Friends! It’s that electrifying energy that runs through our veins every time we get together and cheer on our Favorite Team and our Favorite Players. After all this absolutely my favorite time of the year!!

Some of us have joined Fantasy football leagues which is lots of fun also, sometimes the guys will talk trash back and forth with each other all in fun of course. If it’s nice outside then we will try and have a Tailgating party at one of our houses. (before the snow flies, as we say here in the great state of MN) And everyone always brings something to share, and of course, we bring our own beverages. I usually bring Wine.

Below are a few Football Fever Favorite and Fun Recipes everyone loves when I bring it to share on Game day!

Awesome Pizza Bites

  • 2 or 3 Cans of Jumbo Pitted Black Olives – Drained
  • 1 Large Package of Pepperoni Slices – Thinly sliced if you can find them
  • 1 Regular Size bottle of Wishbone Italian Salad Dressing
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Shredded Parmesan Cheese – Shaker Style works also
Football Fever, snacks or pizza

In a Large ziploc bag, I add all of the Black Olives from 2 cans usually and the Bottle of Italian Salad Dressing. Seal and Shake to blend. Refrigerate over night. To Prepare: I Roll one slice of the Pepperoni and put it into the Black Olive. Placing them into a container of choice (I use a football shaped bowl). Continue until all of the Olives have been filled with a Pepperoni Slice(discard any leftover dressing). Lastly, I Sprinkle them all with the Parmesan. Yum! They will be the Hit of the Party!! Without a doubt I Guarantee they will go Fast!!!

And for my Choice of Beverage, I’ll bring a Bottle of each (Red and White) Fine Wine to Share as well with some of my Tailgating Girls! After all being that I belong to an Amazing Wine Club!! And with all the Food that everyone brings, I’m pretty sure the Wine will be an additional hit!!

Wild Rice Hot-Dish

  • 3 lbs. of Hamburger
  • 1 Lg. Can of Wild Rice (I use Canoe)
  • 2 Family Size Cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 1/2 Stalks of Celery (or to your own liking)
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1 Lg. Can of Mushrooms
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Minced Garlic

In a Skillet, cook Celery and Onion until Translucent, remove and place in bowl. Next, brown the Hamburger, then add the Celery and Onion back into the Skillet mixing it together. Then, add all the remaining Ingredients to the Skillet and cook until warmed through. Put all of it into a Crockpot and cook on low. Stirring Occasionally. Serve with Sliced Baguette’s or crackers of your choice. This is Perfect for those Game Days when it’s cold out. Then again this one is a Family Favorite! My family will eat this until it’s gone.

Blaze of Glory Salsa..

This One is Not One of Mine, But It is from one of my Family Members. And just about everything he uses if Fresh from his Garden. My Kids ask him all the time to make this for them. Sometimes he will even make them their own containers for later. It’s that Good!!

I just Love Football Season and Hanging out with all my Friends. Everyone has such busy lives that it makes it hard for us to always get together. Besides, Football Fever is one of the Best reasons why we all come together for Fun, Food and our Great Friendships! Even all of our children love Football season because they know without asking that they will see their friends as well. Furthermore, This is one tradition that I know will be passed down to our kids and then their kids! Therefore Fine Wine, Great Food and Amazing Friends that I call Family. Isn’t this what Life is all about… Enjoy!!
